GE IC697BEM731Z - Z Series BUS Controller with 1 Channel, Programmable Logic Controller

The IC697BEM731 is a Genius bus controller module that is part of the GE Fanuc Series 90-70 series Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCS). The module is primarily used to connect up to thirty (30) devices and transfer data by passing tokens between all configured devices on the same bus.

The IC697BEM731 has one (1) channel for connecting to devices residing on the same bus, and one (1) handheld monitor (HHM) port for downloading the configuration to the module using the MS DOS or Windows programming software Configurator feature. When IC697BEM731 was delivered, it did not have a defined bus address. The configuration software sets the default address to 153.6 Kbaud standard and the bus address to 31. This default address can be modified by downloading the valid configuration to the CPU. When configured as 2000 Kbaud (standard), the maximum allowable distance of the communication bus is 153.6 feet; 3500 feet when configured at 153.6 KBaud (extended); 4,500 feet at 76.8 KBaud configuration and 7,500 feet at 38.4 KBaud configuration. All devices residing on the same bus or network must be configured with the same baud rate, otherwise communication cannot be established or you may experience erratic communication.

The physical communication cables used to establish the network are Belden 9182 type cables with GE catalog number IC660BLC001, 15 inches, number 3 and IC660BLC003, catalog number 36 inches, number 1. Bus terminator plugs must be installed at both ends of the bus, with catalog number IC660BLM506 150 ohm, number 4 and IC660BLM508 75 ohm, number 4 resistors.

The IC697BEM731 bus controller supports global data transfer between cpus via a Windows-based software configuration, and can be extended with the IC697 PLC alert system to report timestamp failures on processor data tables. The rear end of the bus controller module has a handheld monitoring port for connecting the handheld monitoring device and a connector for establishing the IC66 bus connection. The IC697BEM731 bus controller is configured with Windows or MS-DOs-based configurator functionality. By default, the Windows-based configurator feature sets the baud rate to 153.5 kilobit and the serial bus address to 31. Other baud rates and serial bus addresses can be assigned through the configurator function. The IC697BEM731 bus controller performs self-diagnosis at installation and has LED indicators for display and communication status updates.

GE IC695RMX128-DG RX3i Redundancy Memory Xchange Module

The IC695RMX128 is a PACSystems RX3i redundant memory switch module. The main function of this module is to act as a single node on a reflected memory topology, or as a dedicated memory module for redundant RX3i CPU pairs. When used in a redundant CPU configuration, IC695RMX128 reflects the contents of IC695CMX128. With reflective memory linking, any update on one node is reflected and updated to all other nodes connected to the same network. The connection is established through a fiber optic network and supports connections of up to 256 nodes. The module comes with 128 MB of reflected memory, has a fiber optic power supply requiring LC type connectors and is designed to achieve transfer speeds of up to 2.12 Gbaud. The module operates on 580 mA@3.3VDC and 220 MA@5VDC power supplies. The IC695RMX128 is intended for redundant systems and cannot be used to perform general-purpose memory Xchange functions. In addition, a complete communication path must be established to complete the in-memory Xchange network. The complete communication path consists of a primary RMX unit and a corresponding secondary RMX unit. Two (2) high-speed fiber optic cables must be connected to the RMX pair and must form a 2-node ring. Because a dedicated RMX module must be used for redundant controller configuration, any redundant controller design does not have to use other RMX or reflective Nides. The configuration of RMX nodes is done through programming software rather than through jumper or DIP switch Settings. This ensures centralized modification of modules and minimizes hardware outages.

The IC695RMX128 memory module is a redundant memory module in GE Fanuc Automation’s RX3i PACSystems family. This module is particularly suitable for situations where there is a hot standby CPU redundancy system, where the second CPU acts as a backup device to the primary CPU, and there is a continuous data transfer between the two devices. The module runs on this reflective network and acts as a link between the two cpus. When this link is inactive or not currently in use, it is the same as the main module (that is, the IC695CMX128 module). GE Fanuc Automation IC695RMX128 Redundant memory module provides data sharing between different PCS and computing devices connected via a high-speed fiber optic network. This module has network error detection function. GE Fanuc Automation IC695RMX128 Redundant memory modules can be connected to other devices via fiber optic cables in Daisy chain rings. Transfers are performed from one node to another until they reach the final receiver. The module comes with 128 KB of reflected memory and a high-speed and easy-to-use 2.12 GBaud fiber network. The module occupies a slot in the RX3i rack. GE Fanuc Automation IC695RMX128 Redundant memory replacement module with zirconium ceramic ferrule with a maximum insertion loss rating of 0.35 dB and return loss. The input power of the module is 580 mah at 3.3 volts DC and 220 mah at 5 volts DC. The module can be plugged in easily and the system power is still on. This insertion mode is called jot insert and is suitable for some parts of the RX3i PacSystems family.

GE Fanuc IC695ETM001EJ Programmable Automation Controller

The IC695ETM001 is a PACSystem Rx31 module manufactured by GE and recently acquired by Emerson. The IC695ETM001 is a two (2) port Ethernet transmitter module that supports Ethernet connectivity, 10/100 Mbps transfer rates and auto-negotiation.

The IC695ETM001 is a single slot module that fits into the RX3i slot. It enables PACSystem to communicate with other controller platforms, such as the 90 Series and VersaMax controllers. The module is capable of implementing the Service Request Transfer Protocol (SRTP), Modbus TCP, and Ethernet Global Data (EGD) protocols on the Layer 4 TCP/IP (Internet) stack.

The Ethernet transmitter module supports periodic data exchange over Ethernet global data, and implements EGD commands to read and write to the controller. It also supports TCP/IP services using Serial Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP) and SRTP channels, and is able to act as both a MODBUS TCP server and a MODBUS TCP client. It has an embedded switch that can be configured for auto-negotiation, sensing, speed, and cross detection. The module can also be used for time synchronization with the SNTP time server over Ethernet TCP/IP.

The IC695ETM001 has an Ethernet processor speed of 200 MHz. It comes with LED status indicators such as Ethernet OK, LAN OK, Log Empty, single port and speed LED status indicators.

When installing the IC695ETM001, the compatible backplane is the IC695CHS007, CHS012, or CHS016. It is compatible with any other PACSystem RX3i module except the CPE400. It is best installed on an unpowered RX3i backplane, but supports insertion when powered on and even when the processor is in RUN mode. This is also known as the hot swap function. To enable hot swap, firmware version 2.51 must be installed.

An RS-232 serial port is also available on the IC695ETM001 module, supporting data rates from 1200 bps to 115200 bps. The module’s built-in Station Manager functionality is accessible via serial and Ethernet connections and provides monitoring access. The services provided through Station Manager include commands for polling and controlling the station, for monitoring access to statistics, logs, and configuration parameters, and for password security. The IC695ETM001 module can be used to synchronize time stamps of EGD exchanges over the SNTP protocol. The IC695ETM001 module features PLC configuration and programming capabilities, regular data exchange via EGD, TCP/IP communication via SRTP, and diagnostic and site management tools. The IC695ETM001 module can be installed in any empty RX3i slot. The IC695ETM001 module supports hot swap. The module firmware can be upgraded on-site through software tools provided by GE Fanuc.
